Deep Thoughts for the Day: The Other Tenth

i was thinking this morning about possession. more specifically how people tend to view their lovers, friends, spouses as possessions.

we say things like, you belong to me or i belong to you. or he stole my wife. she stole my boyfriend.

as if people are actually things we own and can be stolen from us.

then that cliche occurred to me. possession is nine tenths of law. and i thought, i wonder what the other tenth is. could it be freewill?

that as much as we want to or try to or even claim someone belongs to us, the only person anyone can belong to is themselves.
