Deep Thoughts: Fertility

it's funny how christian morals bend depending on the purpose.

i caught a glimpse of some fertility clinic drama (inconceivable?) and it popped off a thought in my head. when they create embryoes in petrie dishes or wherever they create them and implant them into wanna be mothers, they implant 5 or 6 at a time. and it often takes several tries. all the while, knowing full well they'll be lucky if even one out of those dozens of potential lives actually takes.

if life begins at conception, as is vehemently maintained by the christian right as the reason abortion is murder, then isn't in vitro murder too?

all those poor embryoes conceived and killed in a sadistic game of baby roulette.

where are the protests outside of fertility clinics? why are those people not evil according to christian morality?

funny how when you're trying to make a life it's all right to murder a few dozen embryoes in the process.

  1. This is an interesting thought.

And I see (sort of) what you mean about how christian morals bend depending on the purpose.

I'm probably not the best person to answer this question; hence my abortion status, but I would have to agree with you on the "funny how when you're trying to make a life, it's okay to murder a few dozen embryoes in the process".

Anyhow, I'm not a big science geek, nor am I a big political fanatic. Therefore, I am stumped. Just as you may be.
